Degrees and Certifications:

Coach Mark Byrd

Entering my 29th season as a Texas High School Coach, 18 years as an Athletic Director and Head Football coach. I'm a graduate of Tarleton State University in 1992 where I played 4 years of college football and was a Graduate Assistant coach (winning 3 Conference Championships and be in the National Playoffs). I have been fortunate enough to have played or coached at every level in the UIL. I have been coach of the year 5 times and served as the President of the Greater Houston Coaches Association, and served on the Board of Directors for 5 years. Along the way winning District Championships in Football and Track, and a State Championship in Powerlifting. I am a true believer of the Total Program and working towards the Lone Star Cup in the UIL. All of this has taken place through hiring good coaches, working with sound administrators and investing in the kids, community and parents. It has truly been a wonderful journey. I have been fortunate enough to have signed 112 kids along the way to athletic/academic scholarships at many levels. I have made coaching stops along the way at Anna, Newton, Pearsall, Winnsboro, Kerens, Ganado, Houston Westside, Coldspring-Oakhurst, and now my home is in Whitney. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife in Tina Byrd for 25 years and have two amazing children in Karli and husband Jon and Kolt.
